Stourbridge 0-2 Halesowen Town

Zamaretto League Premier Division – Tuesday, 1st September 2010

The Yeltz extended their unbeaten start to the campaign with a 2-0 win over local rivals Stourbridge.

The game started with the sides being evenly matched, and after a few mistakes early on both teams started to settle into the game. A Stourbridge attack was countered and before long Stefan MOORE was presented with a golden opportunity to put the away team into the lead. He attempted to chip the keeper but the ball was heading wide of the post, he chased it down and before it could go out for a goal kick, Stefan wrapped his foot around it and put it into the back of the net to give Halesowen the opening goal.

A few minutes later, The Yeltz had a corner, the cross came in and captain Jamie Hood took control of the ball just inside of the area and played the ball back to David STONE who shot somehow managed to find its way through a box full of bodies and past Stourbridge's keeper Lewis Solly.

Once again Halesowen Town finished the game with a clean sheet, Dean Coleman made an incredible save in the second half to prevent the home side getting back into the game. Dallas Moore shone once again at the heart of defence alongside the experienced Lee Ayres, Conor Gater was solid in the tackle and offered a further option as the team attacked and Jamie Hood led by example with another fine display from the skipper.

The midfield was without Alex Johnson and Daryl Taylor, the latter was on the bench due to niggling injury. But despite a few changes to this area of the team, Michael Hayden and Craig Connor ran and ran all night long in the middle of the park, with Lee Osbourne and David Stone working the wings and acting as a third and fourth striker when the side moved forward.

Up front and another goal for Stefan Moore, who reminded fans just what he is capable of infront of goal with his opener and with Michael Nardiello looking more and more of a threat in the box, the future looks bright.
